West Budama South Member of Parliament Jacob Oboth Oboth has expressed interest to stand as the speaker of Parliament.
Oboth has also been the State Minister for Defence a position he has resigned from.
He is expected to pick forms from the ruling party (NRM) to run as the flag bearer in the speakership race.
Rumours yet to be confirmed show that former speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga is also interested in standing for the same seat.
The Parliament of Uganda is expected to the elect the new speaker on Friday 25th-March to replace Jacob Lokoli Oluanyah.
Oulanyah was elected the speaker of Parliament in May 2021 replacing Kadaga.
He lost the battle on Sunday 20th-March in America were he had been flown for specialized treatment.
