US rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested on Wednesday over shooting incident that happened in 2021.
A$SAP whose real name is Rakim Mayers is expecting a baby with pop superstar Rihanna was arrested on his arrival at the Los Angeles International airport.
Los Angeles Police said,
“An argument between two acquaintances on November 6th, 2021 in Hollywood which resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim. The victim, who has not been named, suffered a minor injury and the suspect fled on foot along with two other men. He was later identified by detectives as Mayers.”
He was released on bail of $550,000 (£421,000) shortly after his arrest and will make his first appearance in court on 17 August.
Mayers is a New York born and was previously arrested in 2019 over a street brawl and was held in Swedish custody for more than a month.
He rose to fame after being championed by Drake, and has worked with artists including Alicia Keys, Lana Del Rey, Skepta, Selena Gomez and Kendrick Lamar.
His relationship with the billionaire musician and fashion mogul Rihanna was confirmed last year. In an interview with GQ magazine last May, Mayers called Rihanna the “love of my life” and “the One.”
In January this year, Rihanna and Rocky shared the news that they’re expecting.
