Bad losers Kataka beat up match official and Kyetume players in Mbale

Uganda’s second tier league The FUFA Big League climaxed with chaos, agony and ecstasy as Kyetume FC promotion at the expense of a hostile Kataka FC.

Kyetume beat Kataka FC 3-2 at the Mbale Municipal grounds and subsequently won promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

Upon losing the decisive game, Kataka who were the home side, resorted to beating up their opponents as well as the first assistant referee.

The first assistant referee Dick Okello was confronted by an angry Kataka fan just infront of the police officers after the full-time whistle.

Kataka’s striker Noah Kizito was chief villain of the day as he beat up Kyetume striker Baker Buyala for celebrating after the full-time whistle.

Kizito was seen confronting more Kyetume players and kicked one of the Kyetume team officials before he was taken away by teammates.

The situation was calmed by bullets and tear gas which dispersed the fans and sent them out of the stadium.

The game kick off was also initially delayed when Kataka officials attempted to block Sanyuka TV, who are the league’s broadcasters, from accessing the stadium. The officials threatened to destroy the broadcast equipment.

FUFA has since warned Kataka and a heavy punishment awaits the Mbale based club.

Blacks Power, Kyetume and Maroons earned promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
