Bukoto South Member of Parliament has revealed that he received Shs40M from the Speaker of the 11th Parliament Anita Annet Among.

Kagabo told the Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga on Tuesday that he received the money in cash from the Speaker’s home

I picked the money from the Speaker’s home. I can take the money back to the Speaker but the party’s position was to bring the money here.”

Among has however denied the allegation and has stated that she does not even know the Member of Parliament

“This is an abuse of the institution of Parliament, I did not give him any money and I don’t even know him for information. He is a member of Parliament here but I don’t know him.”

The Speaker has decided to also ordered the Member to the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline.

“This is a breach of conduct of this this house. It is an abuse to this house and we cannot allow that kind of behavior again in this 11th Parliament. I therefore refer the member to the rules committee and it must be reported back in one month.”

Mpuuga also directed the Member to return the money to the source than to his office

“As his leader have put it on record that he has returned the money and have directed him to take the money back to where he received it.” Said Mpuuga after Kagabo had taken the money to his office.

For starters, National Unity Platform(NUP) had earlier directed its MPs to return the Shs 40 million which was advanced to them by Parliament for unknown reasons.

However a section of NUP members of parliament who received the money under unclear circumstances is defiant of the party’s position to return the money to the source.
