Queen Elizabeth II passes on

The Royal family has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has passed on at Balmoral in Scotland on Thursday evening. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday evening.

Queen Elizabeth II, who is Britain’s longest serving monarch, passed away at the age of 96.

She spent seven decades on the British throne.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the Royal Family tweeted on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, the Buckingham Palace said that doctors were concerned for Her Majesty’s health and recommended that she remained under medical supervision.

The Queen was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, in Mayfair, London, on 21 April 1926.

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

Elizabeth II was crowned at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953, aged 27, in front of a then-record TV audience estimated at more than 20 million people.
