Jailed Kawempe MP Mohammad Ssegirinya acquitted of inciting Violence cases

Jailed Kawempe North, MP Mohammad Ssegirinya has been acquitted of inciting violence in which he was accused of demanding for Robert Kyagulanyi’s Presidential victory and freedom for Political prisoners Eddie Mutwe, James Mubiri and Nubian Li.

Chief Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu of the Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court at Buganda dismissed the case and discharged MP Ssegirinya unless held on other charges.

Chief Magistrate in this case Gladys Kamasanyu has ruled that none of the elements of the offence of incitement to violence was proved by the prosecution and that the three Police Officers who testified in this case didn’t inform Court whom Ssegirinya was actually provoking to become violent which worthless and unreasonable evidence.

Ssegirinya was on 22nd/March/2021 arrested around Mini Price Kikuubo lane protesting against imprisonment of his fellow NUP Supporters and demanding for their Presidential victory using placards.

So far, this is the first case that has been concluded against MP Ssegirinya but he has to remain in prison due to other pending cases some of which are Capital in Nature.

His Mother Nakajumba Jackline welcomed the first Court decision in his son’s favour.
