Former Real Madrid captain Casillas sarcastically confirms being gay

Former Spain national team and Real Long serving goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas has surprisingly tweeted that he is gay.

Casillas tweeted that, ” I hope you respect me, I’m gay” and subsequently sent the world football fraternity into confusion.

A few minutes after his tweet, former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol openly expressed his support for his former national teammate saying, “It’s time to tell our story, Iker”

Puyol’s reply sparked allegations of a possible relationship between the duo but Casillas thereafter deleted his tweet.

Some reports close to Casilla say the legendary goalkeeper was expressing his frustration towards the media who have continuously linked him to dating various women.

Casillas is currently single since separating with his former wife Sarah Carbonero a year ago after their marriage lasted for five years.

The latest rumours about his love life have been alleging a possible relationship with Alejandra Onieva a former ex sister in law of Spanish TV host Tamara Falco.

It’s also sarcastically reported that Casillas deleted the tweet after remembering that he has a contract with Bein Sports ahead of the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.

Real Madrid FC, Federico Valvarde and Sergio Ramos unfollowed Casillas on Instagram following his gay tweet.
