S.6 candidate commits suicide after eating school fees

With just two weeks to the Uganda Certificate of Advanced Education exams (UACE), a senior six student at Bukoyo Secondary School in Iganga has committed suicide.

The student identified as Denis Tuke was on Wednesday found hanging dead in dormitory.

It is allegedly that the student who hails in Pallisa District misappropriated third term school fees amounting to Shs1.2m.

Kiira Region Police Spokesperson Diana Nandawula as quoted by Daily Monitor said,

“He wrote a letter apologizing to the school for eating the fees and as he went back to the dormitory, he got a mosquito net and hanged himself.”

She added that investigations are on,

“Preliminary information indicates that the student hanged himself but as Police we have to got on with investigations to find out the real cause of death.” Nandawula told Daily Monitor.
