Government injects Shs1.56bn into World Cup broadcast

The government of Uganda has injected Shs1.56bn into World Cup broadcast.

According to the Minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi the Uganda Broadcasting Service has secured broadcasting rights for the 2022 global Showpiece.

“UBC has secured rights to air free World Games on UBC and Star TV and all its eleven radio stations throughout the country”, he said.

“The World Cup was moved from June to November due to the intense summer heat. According to FIFA, the World Cup viewership is projected to 5bn globally.”

He added,

“As a football loving nation, the government of Uganda has always supported the public broadcaster to ensure that citizens are part of the global community in sports, entertainment, trade as well as science and innovation.

“Let us enjoy the games as part of our festive season and leverage on it to grow our business through sponsorship, promotion and advertising.” Said Baryomunsi

The World Cup will officially kickoff on Sunday, 20th November in Qatar with the final scheduled for 18th December in
