Freedom City owner Ssebalamu summoned over stampede

Freedom City owner John Ssebalamu has been summoned by the Uganda Police over the stampede that happened on New Year’s eve.

10 people lost their lives in the stampede at Freedom City during the event that was organized by promoter Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex.

Abitex has been remanded to Luzira Prison until January, 10th which the owner of the venue has been summoned

“The proprietor of the venue, the managers, other organizers of the event, the masters of ceremony, ushers, bouncers and private security guards who were dedicated to the event.”

“Also summoned are police officers and other security personnel who were deployed to secure the event.” Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said

He added,

“Additionally, we are going to share a comprehensive list of guidelines on various aspects of planning and managing events, in partnership with the police, in order to avoid a repeat of such tragic incidents,” said Enanga.
