Twelve Ugandan Catholic petitioners want Pope Francis to investigate Speaker Anita Annet Among’s holy communion.
They say that the Speaker does not qualify since she is a third wife to a Muslim man, Hon. Moses Magogo.
In a petition letter sent to the Uganda Episcopal Conference chairman Anthony Zziwa, Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere and Soroti Catholic Diocese Rt Rev Bishop Joseph Eciru the petitioners say that the Speaker does not qualify.
There is a need for a reconciliation of how a catholic being a third wife of a Muslim man can continue purporting to be fully prepared for catholic communion,” read part of the petition
“Catholics are universally taught through the catechism about the holy sacraments taken upon fulfilling certain conditions. Speaker Among has been shown on TV and on social media partaking during holy mass.”Read the petition dated February, 9th 2023.
Despite being married to a Muslim man, Speaker Among is a staunch catholic.
