AFCON Qualifiers: Uganda to host Algeria from Cameroon

Uganda Cranes will host their final home AFCON Qualifier against Algeria from Cameroon, FUFA has confirmed.

This follows the unavailability of Mandela National Stadium Namboole which could not be submitted by today 25th April which is the deadline set by CAF.

Namboole is under renovation and unfortunately couldn’t be beat the deadline which means Uganda had to opt for another away ground in the forthcoming qualification window in June.

According to FUFA, the refurbishment of Namboole has been slow and insensitive to the cries of the public to be able to host the matches in Uganda.

“I call upon the relevant government authorities to urgently cancel the contracts of the contractors and supervisors and immediately procure experienced service providers in stadium construction even if it means being obtained from outside Uganda. The country is likey to have a delayed project, substandard work and without value for money.” Said FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.

It should be remembered that the State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang promised Ugandan that Namboole will be able to host the next at Namboole.

Last month, Uganda hosted Tanzania from Ismailia, Egypt.
