Nakivubo Stadium set to host football games this year

Hamis Kiggundu has confirmed that Nakivubo Stadium will host football games by November this year.

The Ugandan government awarded Ham redevelopment project of Nakivubo stadium in 2017 and according to him the process is currently in it’s closing stages.

“The hardest bit of work is done and what is left is to complete the different utilities going to be hosted at the stadium,” Ham said as quoted by the Capital Times before adding

“The Nakivubo redevelopment project is not just a sports project; this is a legacy. If I can, you too can do more to make Uganda a successful country with reason,” he said.

“Oftentimes, multimillion-dollar projects are given to foreigners but with the progress of the redevelopment, I want to create a mindset shift that we can also do it.”

Nakivubo redevelopment started in 2017 but the process was hindered by the horrendous Covid-19 pandemic.

The latest development comes at a time when CAF confirmed Uganda as joint bidders alongside Kenya and Tanzania for the AFCON 2027.
