Minister Engola’s shooter identified by name

The Minister for labour Col.Charles Engola was shot by his own bodyguard, Private Wilson Sabiiti on Tuesday morning.

The bodyguard also took his own life after killing his boss. Sabiiti had been part of the UPDF-seconded security detail for the Minister for only a month. Circumstances leading to the incident are still being investigated.

According to eyewitnesses Sabiiti revealed that he shot his boss due to lack of pay

“The guard said he hadn’t been paid Shs4M. He said he had a pregnant woman and his children were not going to school yet the Minister’s kids were schooling.” An eyewitness.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga asserts that investigations are on

“The investigation is currently in the early stages of review. We also dispatched a team of crime scene experts who are using the most advanced forensic technology to get what exactly was the cause of this tragic murder. We don’t want to speculate into the motive of the shooting until we have confirmed,”Mr Enanga said as quoted by Daily Monitor

The minister was on his way to attend a Cabinet sitting when he got shot by Sabiiti. The minister’s ADC Ronald Otim also sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Mulago hospital for treatment.
