Uganda Netball Federation President Babirye Kityo remanded to Luzira

The Buganda Road Court has remanded the President of the Uganda Netball Federation Babirye Kityo Sarah to Luzira Prison on charges of obtaining 16 million shillings by falsely pretending to take people to United States.

Babirye’s accusers include a mother ; Sarah Wamala who claims she paid her eight million shillings to take her son overseas and Gloria Kikomeko Nantambi who says she paid Babirye another eight million shillings to take her.

Babirye is jointly charged with a businesswoman Zainab Namutebi for offences committed in May 2022 in Kampala .

The duo has pleaded not guilty to two counts of obtaining money by false pretences before Grade One magistrate Siena Owomugisha.

They have been remanded to prison until 17th May for purposes of hearing their bail application.
