Katikkiro warns Masaza Cup players about sexual encounters

The Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga has warned soccer players to be careful about sexual encounters.

He made the remarks during the launch of the 19th edition of Masaza Cup at Bulange Mengo on Wednesday.

“Football is a sport and an industry. Players cannot give us an enjoyable match unless they are disciplined.”

“Since it is a sport we want to enjoy it when we go to watch the matches and the players cannot give us an enjoyable match unless they are disciplined.”

“The players must attend the training sessions, must avoid consumption of alcohol and must be careful about sexual encounters especially with the threat of spreading HIV. As we all know the Kabaka is the ambassador on the continent for the prevention of the spread of HIV and burnish it out of the continent by 2030.” Said the Katikkiro

The Katikkiro also commended the Masaza Cup tournament Sponsors including Airtel Uganda, Centenary Bank, Plascon Paints, UNAIDS among others.

The 2023 Masaza Cup tournament opening game will be played on Saturday, 24th June at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II will grace the opening game.
