Police are holding Patrick Lutu for ending the life of his wife on charges of infecting him with HIV/AIDS.
The incident occurred recently in Luwafu Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala.
“The suspect allegedly got his lover with another man in her room on July 14, 2023, at around 1:00 p.m.”
“He was not convinced by the explanation of his lover that the man found in the house was her brother. He further claimed that his fiancé had infected him with HIV/AIDS.”
“As a result, the suspect locked the door and attacked his lover with a sharp metal and stabbed her at the neck, left jaw, and chest. The victim bled and died at the scene.” Police said in a statement
Lutu then turned the sharp metal on himself and stabbed himself.
He was, however, rescued and rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he is admitted under Police guard.
Police statistics show that a total of 17,698 cases of Domestic Violence were reported to Police in 2022, compared to 17,533 cases reported in 2021, giving a 0.94% increase in the volume of domestic violence registered.
