Former Minister in President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government has reportedly been flown abroad in critical condition.
A few weeks ago, there have been reports that former foreign affairs minister and former Mawogola MP Sam Kutesa had been flown to Germany for specialized treatment. Available reports indicate that Kutesa was steadily recovering but doctors were still monitoring his health condition.

Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi was also in the UK few weeks for medical treatment. He has since spoken out on his sickness.

Now, reports have also indicated that John Nasasira, a former Minister of Works and Transport, had been flown to Turkey for treatment. It was not yet clear what disease Nasasira was battling and which hospital he had been admitted in.

But the 71-year-old minister, who previously represented the people of Kazo County in Parliament, is said to have been flown to Turkey after his health condition worsened.

Government was yet to speak out on Nasasira’s health.

Nasasira’s recent health condition was not publicly known. In 2016, Nasasira’s weight loss worried his constituents and other Ugandans. In May of that year, Nasasira announced he was retiring from elective politics. A few years ago, Museveni appointed Nasasira as a member of the Education Policy Review Commission (EPRC).

1996: Minister of Works, Housing and Communications
