Pastor Jackson Senyonga’s right-hand man Israel Waswa denied bail, remanded to Luzira

Mwanga II Court denied Christian Life Church lead Pastor Jackson Senyonga’s head of security Israel Wasswa bail yesterday afternoon.

Wasswa together with four other accused were in the dock hoping to get timely freedom but Judge Adams Byarugaba ruled that Wasswa should be remanded.

Aggrey Kanene, Alex Wakamala, Regan Ssentongo, and Moses Semanobe are the four who saw the green light out of the eight accused paraded in court.

The eight together with two on the run will return to the same court to battle charges of trespass and giving wrong information all in the name of tarnishing Pastor Robert Kayanja’s image.

While Wasswa will return to court on the 10th of August 2023 from Luzira with the other three who didn’t apply for bail, the four who were granted a one million shillings cash bail are expected to report from home.

The reason why Wasswa was taken back to the coolers is that he is serving two years courtesy of aggravated robbery after the High Court found him guilty together with three of his former workmates.

The victim, Sam Mukula, a former member of Christian Life Church had to undergo operation twice at Mulago Hospital due to injuries inflicted on him by security personnel attached to the church which belongs to Pastor Jackson Senyonga.

Testifying before the High Court presided over by Justice Isaac Muwata last year, Mukula said he was allegedly boxed and kicked by the security personnel led by Israel Wasswa.

He said this happened on June 8, 2018, at Christian Life Church premises.

It is important to note that Kanene is PA to pastor Sseyonga and it’s on record that he was the main handler of David Mukulu and Mapengo Bayichi the two
youth who came out early this year with false sodomy allegations against Pastor Kayanja.

*The genesis of the court case*

According to the charge sheet, on 17th September 2021, the above-mentioned committed the first offence of trespass.

They entered onto or upon Rubaga Miracle Centre, property in possession of Pastor Kayanja, with intent to insult or to annoy the said Pastor Robert Kayanja.

The conspired felony contrary to Section 302 of the Panel Code Act is what has seen them spend weeks in Prison and now, they have a burden of proving their innocence.

The second offence on the charge sheet was giving false information to the Police on 27th of September 2021.

They fed D/IP Cotilda Nanduttu with misleading information that Pastor Kayanja performed unnatural offences with them.

“Intending thereby to cause or knowing it to be likely that they would cause the said D/IP Nanduttu to devote her time and services to the investigations of such information” read part of the charge sheet.
