Man arrested for allegedly sodomizing disabled at MK movement fete

Police in Soroti City are investigating circumstances under which a 20-year-old man was allegedly sodomised by a 20-year-old man only identified as Opolot during the MK Movement fete activities in the Teso subregion.

The incident is believed to have occurred on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at around midnight at the sports ground in Soroti City.

According to East Kyoga police spokesperson, SP Ageca Oscar Gregg, preliminary findings indicate that at around 00:30 am, the suspect was allegedly found having canal knowledge of a 49-year-old male adult with physical infirmities.

The two according to the police spokesperson were immediately arrested and are currently in detention at Soroti Central Police Station where a case of an unnatural offence was opened.

Ageca in a statement dated August 16 said police have since recorded a statement from the accused person and talked to the victim who has been examined by medical doctors.

He further condemned same-sex relations, citing the country’s new anti-gay law in which offenders may face maximum sentences.
