Shadir Musa Bwogi’s Paris 2024 Olympic journey came to an end after suffering defeat to Algeria’s Younes Nemouchi on Sunday.

The Algerian beat Bwogi 5-0 at the ongoing Boxing Olympic Qualifiers in Senegal to cruise to the round of 16 of the Men’s 80Kg.

Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi was delighted with Bwogi’s exit and attacked the Uganda Olympic Committee over the team Selection.

“The UOC/NCS preferred boxer gets eliminated on his first bout in Dakar Mr. Shadir Musa.”

“The reason UOC rejected our UBF longlist for the Olympic qualifiers.” Said Muhangi before adding,

Champions league unprepared boxers like Joshua Tukamuhebwa, Isaac Ssenyange have progressed to the next round but the UOC/NCS preferred boxer didn’t even win a single round, he lost 5-0.”

“The fact that our Champions league boxers have already performed more that the UOC boxer shows you that if Champions league is left to function the way we want, the future for Ugandan boxing is good.”

“Of course our chances for qualifying a boxer this time round are very very slim due to the mess in preparation of the team and the interferences by UOC & NCS but am happy ro my boxers from champions league for they have proved UOC & NCS wrong.”

“In the future, I strongly advise UOC and NCS to stop negative interferences in the UBF matters , more so in the national team selection and preparation mandates.” Said Muhangi

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games, Uganda was represented by three boxers David Ssemujju, Catherine Nanziri and Shadir Musa Bwogi.
