On Wednesday, East African trio of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania won the bid to host the 2027 AFCON.

Mabirizi outlined the reasons why CAF should remove Uganda from hosting the biggest soccer event on the African continent.

“We have written to CAF_Online objecting to Uganda’s Hosting of 2027 African Cup of Nations based on 8 broad reasons including collapse of democracy, Rule of law, Corruption, sectarianism, nepotism, lack of democracy in FUFA among others.”

The last time the event was held in East Africa was in 1976 when Ethiopia hosted. Since then, the tournament has never been staged in the region.
