In Kibuku District, police successfully recovered four guns yesterday that were stolen by suspected robbers in Tirinyi Trading Center. Two suspects have been arrested and are currently in detention at Kibuku Central Police Station. The primary mastermind behind the theft, who is alleged to have recently escaped from Tirinyi Prisons, is still at run.

The incident unfolded when the escaped prisoner joined a group of robbers who targeted the Amula stores at Tirinyi Prison, making away with the four guns during the night. This prompted a joint operation by Kibuku police, Tirinyi Prisons, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kibuku, Samuel Musiho.

During the operation, three of the stolen guns were fortunately recovered behind Tirinyi Church of Uganda, while another was found within Tirinyi Trading Center along the Pallisa-Tirinyi highway. RDC Musiho expressed gratitude to the residents of Tirinyi Trading Center for their cooperation, which played a crucial role in the successful recovery of the firearms.

However, he urged residents of Kibuku District to remain vigilant in light of such criminal activities. RDC Musiho also issued a special caution ahead of the upcoming Christmas season, advising locals to stay alert as criminals often exploit this festive period to engage in robbery and extortion.

Speaking to the press about the recovery of the stolen guns, the new RDC of Kibuku, Samuel Musiho, confirmed the arrest of two suspects connected to the gun theft. The prime suspect, believed to have recently escaped from Tirinyi Prisons, is currently on the run as investigations continue.
