Woman charged over Oxygen Machine fraud

The Law Development Centre Court has charged the General Manager of Critical Care Solutions, a company that deals in the supply of specialized equipment with fleecing Makerere University Hospital shs200 million in an oxygen machine.

Lilian Muhiire, the General Manager of the company was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Martins Kirya and charges related to obtaining goods by false pretence contrary to section 305 of the Penal Code Act read against her.

Lilian Muhiire and others still at large, on April, 21, 2023 at Makerere University Hospital in Kampala with intent to defraud, obtained an oxygen plant from Kimera Stephen by falsely pretending she would pay whereas not,” the chief magistrate read.

It was said that Muhiire contacted Stephen Kimera of Genome Scientific Solutions to supply the said Oxygen machine worth shs200 million that was to be installed at Makerere University Hospital.

Whereas the hospital paid the money to Muhiire, 10 months later, she had not yet remitted the same to Kimera.

Muhiire however denied the charges and was later released on bail.

The case has been adjourned to March, 13, 2024.
