The 9th annual Oil and Gas Convention held last week at the Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme “The Journey to first oil in the Face of a Just Energy Transition in Uganda” was a success.

At the front was one of the biggest brands in the industry, Inspecta Africa, who also doubled as sponsors of the convention’s Day-One afternoon session.

With over a decade of experience in thoroughly inspecting, testing, and certifying machinery to unlock the full potential of Uganda’s Oil and Gas sector, Inspecta Africa had a slot on the panel.

“We should focus on research and innovation and keep learning from our competitors,” Anthony Mugira, the Project Manager Maintenance and Inspection at Inspecta Africa noted during Session 4 dubbed “The successes and Lessons in National Content in the Oil & Gas Sector” shortly after Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, had paid a courtesy visit at the Inspecta Africa exhibition booth.

Into day two, the Government of Uganda reassured stakeholders in attendance that well-drilling and construction of the central processing facility and supporting infrastructure, as well as the crude oil pipeline, were in earnest.

“Uganda’s Energy Transition plan that was launched last year at #COP28 in Dubai spells out a clear pathway to achieving net-zero emissions by 2065,” Vice President, H.E Maj (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, stressed.

To make sure that all the project works are up to global standards, a total  $7.1bn of contracts have been handed out for services in the Oil Sector ranging from camp management, drilling, waste management, and warehousing, among others.
