The Police in Kamuli have arrested a 43 year old business man identified as Jingo Mohammed for allegedly defiling a 13 year old juvenile. The victim is a P.5 learner at Busota Primary School.
The suspect is a resident of Mbulamuti Cell, Mbulamuti ward, Mbulamuti Town Council in Kamuli district.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the mother to the victim relocated with her to Mbulamuti recently. Due to her busy schedule in Kampala, she got her daughter a phone for easy communication. Together with friends, the victim has been going to Jingo’s place buy charcoal. He therefore he took advantage of the situation to get the contact of the victim after several failed attempts.
Upon getting the contact, Jingo allegedly started seducing her at night with promises of money of which he succeeded and by the time of arrest, they had allegedly made three sexual encounters.
The mother became suspicious on Friday 01/06/2024 at night when Jingo made a phone call to the victim.This prompted her to report the matter at Mbulamuti police post the following day. However, when she returned home, she found when the victim was missing and upon searching, she was helped by the victim’s peer to find where she had gone. Having had knowledge about the sexual relationship between Jingo and the victim, she led the mother to Jingo’s place where the juvenile was found leading to the immediate arrest of Jingo.
The victim and suspect have been examined pending further investigations.
We appeal to parents to take all necessary steps to safe guard children against similar situations that endanger their lives, especially when they avail them with communication gadgets.
