“Express hurts me but I am not coming back” Businessman Kirumira

Former Express FC chairman Godfrey Kirumira has revealed that under no circumstances is he returning to the club.

Kirumira made the revelations on Thursday at Sheraton Hotel during St.Julian’s thanksgiving ceremony for their USSSA Boys Football triumph.

“We left with the fans in Ugandan football. I remember when we were still in football, fans would fill Nakivubo to capacity. Football is costly and when I was at Express I used to spend a lot and lost some of my businesses.”

“Express hurts me nowadays but I am not returning in football. I hear people saying that I am returning but I did my part and I am not returning.”

“Express is struggling nowadays and they need money, they need sponsors to facilitate the players and be competitive again and hopefully they can turn things around.”

Affirmed Kirumira .

Kirumira served as chairman of Express for almost a decade during the club’s glory days and is remembered for buying big name players such as Hassan Mubiru, Kefa Kisala, Willy Kyambadde, and Mathias Kaweesa among others.

He now serves as the Honorary Consul for Namibia to Uganda.

Meanwhile, Express FC are currently in preparations for the new league season and will host Kenya’s AFC Leopards in the international friendly on Friday, 16th August at Nakivubo Stadium.

They have already completed the acquisition of defender Derrick Ngoobi, Geoffrey Gagganga, Emmanuel Wasswa and Sam Ssenyonjo.
