betPawa support Jinja Referral Hospital’s mental health unit with new equipment

As the world prepares to observe the World Mental Health Day in seven weeks time, gaming brand betPawa has moved to support the mental health unit at Jinja Referral Hospital with various items that will advance its work.

The facility located in Jinja City, Eastern Uganda has been offering crucial mental
healthcare to patients since 2010 when the government decentralised the services to referral hospitals.

betPawa has today donated hospital beds, mattresses, bedsheets, patient uniforms, and sandals to be utilised in the mental health unit. This, the brand noted, will help the hospital deal with an increasing number of patients, noting that access to quality mental healthcare is a universal right.

“As we get ready to observe the World Mental Health Day which takes place on 10th October annually, as a brand, we would like to play our part in mobilising support to the patients in need of these services,” said betPawa’s Country Marketing Manager Ivy Igunduura.

“We note that provision of quality mental healthcare is not just a preserve of the government but requires concerted efforts. This way, as many people as need these services can easily access them.”

According to the hospital management, the number of patients in the hospital’s mental health unit has decreased by 4.9% over the 2023-2024 period. This indicates that increased mental health awareness is making a difference.

However, thousands of people in the region still require the support of Jinja Referral Hospital’s mental health unit each year. It’s therefore essential that brands like betPawa contribute to making their stay as comfortable as possible, helping the hospital to provide timely and compassionate care for these patients and encouraging others to
come forward.
