Makerere Law School student Suspended Over Sexual Harassment

Makerere University has suspended one student from the school of law over sexual harassment, the Makerere Law Society has revealed.

Annie Maria Adikin, president Makerere Law Society, in a letter to the Mak law fraternity, said that at least one of their students had been suspended for sexually assualting another student.

She said the law society is committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and creating a safe and inclusive academic environment for all members.

“We are united in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of conduct and creating a safe and inclusive academic environment for all members of our community. We are deeply disturbed by the wave of sexual harassment and violence that has gone unreported at the Makerere University School of Law,” writes Adikin.

She also says the Makerere Law Society will maintain its stance of zero tolerance against sexual harassment and violence against women and men in any form.
