Ugandan Rapper Gereson Wabuyi, better known as Gravity Omutujju, has revealed that National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine should have taken action to prevent his fans from targeting his late mother.
Gravity’s mother passed away last month due to high blood pressure and diabetes.
Following the death of Gravity’s mother, Bobi Wine posted his condolence message on his social media platforms.
Gravity has had a strained relationship with Mr Kyagulanyi’s fans since February, when he challenged the NUP leader to build a hospital at his One Love Beach in Busabala.
This challenge angered Mr Kyagulanyi’s supporters, leading some to direct insults at Gravity’s mother.
During an interview with Sanyuka TV, Gravity asserted that Kyagulanyi should have limited his fans.
“It’s important to offer condolences when someone suffers a loss, but it’s also crucial to be sensitive when someone is going through a hard time, particularly concerning their parents,” he said.
He said Mr Kyagulanyi should have stepped in to curb the behavior of his ‘abusive’ fans.
“It’s fine for fans to critique my music, but if someone’s parent is suffering, it’s your duty to encourage your followers to lessen their attacks, especially if you have the power to influence them,” Omutujju stated.
He added, “Don’t wait until someone has passed away to express your condolences. You could have addressed the issues that caused her distress and made it clear that she was not involved, directing the criticism towards me instead of his mother.”
