Aviators to Run for expectant mothers living with HIV/AIDS

The inaugural Aviators Run for HIV/Aids prevention and awareness has officially been launched on Tuesday at Kajjansi Airfield.

The event is scheduled to take place on 8th December at UMA grounds in Lugogo with the proceeds collected set to support expectant mothers leaving with HIV/Aids.

Menya Emmanuel Pilot and flight operations officer and Director of Aviators Run initiative Uganda has revealed the major motive of the run

“The run is about the HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. We shall have mindset camps where we are going to talk to young people around the country in regards to HIV/AIDS.” We decided to use this run to support expectant mothers leaving with the virus. So we call everyone from Uganda to come and take part in the run.”

Dr.Sarah Alinga represented, The AIDS Support Organization (Taso) at the official launch of the Run

“We are excited as Taso to take part in this Aviators Run initiative and we are happy they are running for HIV/AIDS awareness as well as supporting expectant mothers who are living with HIV.” Said Alinga

Pamela Watuwa, Resident District Commissioner, Kyotera District has urged Ugandans to embrace the event.

“Personally, I will be part of this wonderful event that will aim at supporting mothers leaving with HIV/AIDS virus.” This is a great initiative from the Aviators and so I call upon everyone to come and grace this event.” Said Watuwa.

Meanwhile, participants will take part in 5Km, 3Km and 2Km with the winners in each category having a chance for scenic flights.

Kits will be sold at Entebbe bus park, S and S Supermarket, Victoria University and UMA grounds.
