Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has converted from christianity to Islam after marrying a muslim girl.
Partey will know be called Yakubu after he married Muslim and Moroccan girlfriend Sara Bella.
The 28 year old midfielder will however not change his name on the back of his jersey at Arsenal.
Thomas is the name used by the midfielder on the back of his Jersey at the London club.
He joined Arsenal in 2020 and has previously featured at Atletico Madrid Mallorca and Almería.
At Atletico he won the 2018 Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. Despite leaving the Spanish club at the beginning of the 2020–21 season, Partey made enough appearances at the start of the season to become eligible for a winner’s medal as Atlético won La Liga that year
Ghanaian international, Partey represented his nation at three Africa Cup of Nations (2017, 2019, and 2021). He was named into the CAF Team of the Year in 2018, and won Ghana Player of the Year in 2018 and 2019.
