Warriors player Gabriel Aredo beat up New vision Journalist Johnson Were on Sunday at the sixth circuit of the National Rugby 7s at Kyabazinga playground.

The fracas started when Gabriel Aredo tried to stop Were from taking photos of his brother Erasmus Aredo the Chairman Organizing Committe National Rugby 7s who had been accused by Alex Mubiru for being too close to the touchline during a semifinal tie between KOBS and Heathens.

The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has embarked on a media Blackout against Rugby until the matter is resolved

“We strongly condemn this attack on our colleague and senior executive member and we call upon Uganda Rugby Union to bring the culprit to book and hold everyone involved accountable.”

“In the meantime we advise our members to stay away from rugby games until this matter is resolved to its logical conclusion. This is for their safety and it takes immediate effect.” Read the statement from the USPA President Patrick Kanyomozi

For starters, Were is the Uganda Sports Press Association General Secretary.
