First account for 9000 square mile land before you attack Mengo. MPs tell President Museveni

The MPs on Buganda parliamentary caucus have tasked president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to first account for the 9000 square miles of land which he is in charge of as the head of state before attacking the Mengo institution on the 8000 square miles of land.

President Museveni, while meeting a section of journalists towards the end of year 2022, accused the Mengo institution of unfairly distributing the 8000 square miles of land.

Addressing journalists at parliament the chairperson Buganda Parliamentary caucus Muwanga Kivumbi noted that president Museveni’s comments on 8000 square miles of land intends to divert the people of Buganda from demanding accountability on the 9000 square miles which his government is in charge.

Kivumbi who is also the Butambala county MP says there is a need for an audit on the people who were allocated public land to ascertain whether they are using the land as they requested.

Meanwhile the vice chairperson Buganda parliamentary caucus also the Buikwe South MP Dr Michael Lulume Bayiga noted that the grabbing of land in Buganda has changed the trend where land grabbers are now focusing on forest land.
