FDC NEC member quits party

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) NEC Member Habib Buwembo has resigned from his role and quit the party.

Buwembo confirmed the development in a statement he released on Thursday.

He revealed that he has resigned from his position of Secretary for labour and pensions on FDC National Executive Committee (NEC).

“I Buwembo Habib of the FDC membership card No. 593450, I hereby confirm that I have today 12th January, 2023 resigned as FDC NEC Member and also as a member of FDC.” My reasons of resignation are best known by the party president as u addressed them to him in a document dated 27th December, 2022.” Read a document from Buwembo

Buwembo was the FDC flag bearer for the Rubaga South Member of Parliament seat during the 2021 General elections.

He beat his rival Grace Nakanwagi who refused to stand down following a request by FDC party officials.

Buwembo won the FDC ticket with 49 votes against Nakanwagi’s 4 votes.

He lost to National Unity Platform’s Aloysius Mukasa in the General elections.
