Bugiri Municipality MP Asuman Basalirwa has applauded the 66 members of Parliament who trusted him with their votes
The Bugiri member of Parliament has been beaten to the seat by 401 votes to 66 out of the 480 Mps present.
“I would like to thank the 66 members who trusted me with their votes and I accept defeat.”
“It has been a free and fair election unlike other practices in this country.”
Basalirwa also expressed his readiness to work with the newly appointed speaker in case she needs him,
“I am ready to work with you madam speaker in case you need my services I wish you the best.”
The process was witnessed by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The two were contesting to replace Jacob Oulanyah who died on Sunday 20th-March.
Oulanyah’s body is expected back home in Uganda on Sunday 27th and will be burried next week.
