Ugandan comedians Allan Mujuni alias Amooti Omubalanguzi and Herbert Mendo Ssegujja aka Teacher Mpamire have spoken about the incident that involved actor Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock.

Smith slapped Rock at the Oscars ceremony over a joke about wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair

“This will at one time happen in Uganda, you know we make many jokes.” We are to learn from the incident as comedians in Uganda since you might go deep into someone’s personal life and you get embarrassed on stage.” But above all, a good comedian should continue with his or her performance even when you’re hit.”

Said Amooti

Mpamire also revealed that something of the sort has ever happened to him

“One day, I was performing at Tarven and handled someone’s phone, the man told me do your comedy and leave my phone alone.” We entertain people with different feelings and I think sometimes comedians we go personal.” Mpamire told Spark TV.

Meanwhile, following the incident on Sunday, Will Smith has apologized to the public and Chris Rock.
