A 24 year old man was lynched for killing his grandfather in Luma Village, Bunanimi Parish in Busoba Sub County on Sunday.
The man identified as Lauben Wamimbi reportedly ended his grandfather’s life Abimeric Wamateke with a panga for unknown reasons.
The residents of Luma Village embarked on Wamimbi’s hunt him and lynched him.
According to Elgon Regional Police Spokesperson, Rogers Taitika the 24 year Wamimbi was suffering from mental illness
He (Wamimbi) who was suffering from a mental illness picked a panga and cut his grandfather several times on the head and on the legs as he was laying on the bed and died instantly. After the act Wamimbi disappeared from the home but was later got and beaten to death,” he said as quoted by Daily Monitor
Wamimbi had just returned from Kenya on 13th March, 2023. Meanwhile, the two bodies of the deceased were taken to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem as investigations go on.
