Uganda Cranes and New York Red Bulls midfielder Steven Sserwadda will be out for five months after undergoing a surgery.
Sserwadda was stretched off during Uganda Cranes 1-0 defeat to Tanzania at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt in March.
The former KCCA winger came off the bench to replace Fahad Bayo at the start of the second half but only played nine minutes before he was stretchered off following a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
Sserwadda joined the first team of New York Red Bulls last season after signing a Major League Soccer contract on July 9th last year.

Sserwadda got injured while playing for Uganda in the 1-0 defeat to Tanzania at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt on 24th March.
The former KCCA winger came off the bench to replace Fahad Bayo at the start of the second half but only played nine minutes before he was stretched off for Allan Okello following a torn medial collateral ligament knee injury.
The attacking midfieder joined the first team of New York Red Bulls last season after signing a Major League Soccer contract on July 9th last year.
He has found it hard to break into the starting line up and has only played two games in the Major League Soccer which came against Atlanta United and FC Cincinnat.
The injury rules him out Uganda’s final two AFCON Qualification games against Niger and Algeria next month. Sserwadda has five caps with the senior national team.
