A security guard attached to a private security firm has been arrested on murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed a colleague in Tororo District in eastern Uganda.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that John Okudi, a security guard attached to Saracen (U) Ltd was allegedly shot dead by his colleague, Moses Okedi.

The two had a disagreement in senior quarters in Amagoro Central ward in Tororo Municipality where they had been deployed by indian businessman.

“In our cells, we have arrested two security guards in connection to the same murder because we are not certain who could be the main suspect. However, Ejumu who is also in our custody told us that it’s Okedi, who shot his colleague after they developed a misunderstanding.” Said the District Police Commander (DPC) Assistant Superintendent of Police, Adam Kimuli as quoted by Daily Monitor.

Mr Kevin Mwambu, the assistant area manager, Saracen, Tororo branch revealed that the two guards were close friends

“For sure we did not expect them to have reached a situation of shooting one another because they have been friends. Even at the time of deployment on Tuesday evening, both of them shared a plate of food.”He told Daily Monitor

Okudi’s death comes barely a week after another guard attached to Capital Guards and Patrol, a private security firm allegedly shot a colleague dead in their rented house in Kalule Zone, Lukuli Parish, Makindye Division on May 13, 2023.

John Mujumbi, a security guard attached to Capital Guards and Patrol was allegedly shot by his colleague and roommate, Peter Ochoroi at around 12:30pm following a disagreement on Saturday.
