USSSA Football: Kitende overcome Amus College to storm Final

Defending champions St.Mary’s Kitende advanced to the final of the 2023 USSSA National Football championship in Fort Portal.

In the semi final the 10 time competition winners overcame Amus College 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.

Kitende took an early lead through Uganda Hippos midfielder Frank Katongole in the first five minutes but Allan Oyirwoth equalized for Amus with sensational header moments later.

Kitende had a golden opportunity to restore the lead towards the halftime break when Olimi Nyarwa missed a penalty following a handball in the area.

Kitende emerged winners after scoring all their five penalties through Derrick Kato, Habib Oloya, Ronald Madoi, Samuel Lukoya and SC Villa’s Hakim Mutebi.

Amus scored three through Toto Majid, Muzamir Abdul Razzak and Samuel Owalamu while Hafidhu Sonko’s was saved by the keeper.

SMASK and SHACK will face off in the final scheduled tomorrow while Royal Giants and Amus College will face off in a classification game in the morning.

Kitende and Kitovu met in Group A and the Masaka based institution won the encounter 2-1 with a man less.
