Video: Bobi Wine arrested at Entebbe International Airport

Ugandan opposition leader and National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine, has been arrested by soldiers on his arrival at Entebbe airport.

 

Reports of his detention have been confirmed by the NUP party, raising concerns about his safety and the state of democracy in Uganda.

Soldiers surrounded him and swiftly apprehended him, before driving him away in an undisclosed location.The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear, leaving supporters and international observers anxious about his well-being.

Security  remains beefed up along Entebbe road and at National Unity Platform offices in Kamwokya.

On his arrival, Kyagulanyi was expected to lead a procession called the ‘One Million March’ to Kampala city.

Meanwhile, Several MPs from the National Unity Platform party, including Hon. Lutaaya Geofrey of Kakuuto Constituency and Hon. Hillary Kiyaga of Mawokota North, were denied access to Entebbe International Airport ahead of Bobi Wine’s arrival.
