Witch doctor compensated for Namboole Stadium renovation

Lt. Col PS Kidemuka, the UPDF Projector Engineer in charge of Mandela National Stadium in Namboole has revealed that part of the Shs97Bn approved to renovate the stadium was used to compensate and vacate the custodian witch doctor.

According to Kidemuka they had to compensate the witch doctor for the smooth running of the renovation works at the stadium.

“We had to compensate custodian (witch doctor) of Namboole to allow the works to go on smoothly.” Said Kidemuka before adding

“Namboole is now a smart stadium, you will only access it with a digitally purchased ticket. The system is already operational and ready for testing,” Lt. Col PS Kidemuka, the UPDF Projector Engineer

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among alongside the commissioner of Parliament Hon Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba have on Monday inspected the works at Namboole.

Speaker of Parliament Among has directed the Ministry of Education and Sports to write to Confederation of African Football officials, urging them to return to Uganda and reassess the suitability of Namboole Stadium to host World Cup qualifiers on June 3rd and June 10th.

Recently, CAF officials visited Uganda to assess the stadium’s suitability for hosting World Cup qualifier games and recommended that the facility did not meet the required standards.

The government approved 97 billion shillings for the refurbishment of the stadium. CAF inspectors noted in a report that some interior and exterior sections of the stadium were incomplete.
