Ham Kiggundu names Rogers Mulindwa as Nakivubo Stadium Board Chairman

Kampala City business tycoon Haj Hamis Kigundu has named Rogers Mulindwa the Board Chairman of his newly constructed Hamz Stadium located at Nakivubo War Memorial Ground within the City centre.

Mulindwa who also doubles as an Executive Committee Member of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) was recently the Chairperson of the organising committee for the highly regarded Grand Opening ceremony of the same facility on June 1st this year. Kiggundu says Mulindwa’s commitment on duty and his exposure in sports both locally and internationally was the reason for this choice. “We expect him to guide the stadium to further growth and ensure that the facility generates income for its sustainability” Kiggundu said.

He added, “I have no doubt, Mr. Mulindwa will deliver us to a desired destination and I shall give him all the support he needs.” Mulindwa was officially handed over the instrument of power on Tuesday evening and started work immediately.

“I am grateful to Haj Hamis Kiggundu for this task assigned to me. This is not a full time job but I shall offer my best and together we shall direct our focuss towards continued improvement of this facility. Hamz stadium is strategically located and we shall ensure its put to proper use to avoid frustrating the private developer and investor”, Mulindwa said.

*Who is Mulindwa in Sports?*

*He is an Executive Committee Member of FUFA headed by Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo. He also served in Lawrence Mulindwa’s regine for 8yrs as both Excom Member and Federation spokesperson.

*Served as a CAF Media Officer during his 4-year period on the Media standing Committee of the African Football body. He was the first Ugandan journalist to hold this continental duty.

*During his stay in CAF, Mulindwa participated in a number of CAF events. His last official Continental duty was the Afcon finals in Equatorial Guinea in 2013.

*Was the spokesperson of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) for eight years from 2006 to 2013. He also served on several CECAFA Committees.

*He was a board member of Nakivubo stadium for two un disrupted terms during Hon Charles Bakabulindi’s tenure as the sports Minister.

*Mulindwa is also considered the longest serving Secretary of Masaza organising committee, an annual football event manned by the Buganda Kingdom. He occupied the office for a record of 8yrs.
