Buluuli Outshine holders Bulemeezi in 2024 Airtel Masaza Cup Opener

Buluuli dreaming big after beating defending champions Bulemeezi with a 1-0 victory in the opening match of the 20th edition of the Airtel Masaza Cup opener that was held on Saturday, 22nd June at Kasana Grounds in Luweero District.

The Bulange group cash was a witnessed by Owek katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga ,who had earlier kick off tournament along side Minister of sports and Recreation owek Ssalongo Robert Serwanja and other Buganda officials .

Robert Ssewanyana scored the all important goal in the first period of the contest while his teammate Muhammad Kanyike was the man of the match.

Number of other dignitaries include members of parliament and others from Buganda government graced the government .

Bululi coach Anthony Bongole attributed the win for good funding of the team and good preparations .

Buluuli are 2011 Masaza Cup winners while Bulemeezi have won the tournament three times in 2012, 2019 and lately in 2023.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Oweek. Charles Peter Mayiga, recognized the positive contribution toward the Masaza Cup, which has grown to be a sought-after activity on Uganda’s sports calendar and an initiative that positively impacts people in the communities where it operates.

We continue to rally our people, not only in Buganda but throughout the entire country, to support Airtel by using their network to communicate with loved ones and business partners.” Oweek. Mayiga noted. “The impact of the Masaza Cup over the past 19 editions has been profound.

The tournament has unearthed football talents who have gone on to represent Uganda on national and international stages. Players like Fahad Bayo (Ssingo), and Halid Lwaliwa (Mawokota) are shining lights on the recent Uganda Cranes team.

Bululi placed in Bulange group with Buddu , Bulemeezi , Butambala ,Bugerere and Kyadondo .

On matchday two Bululi will host Butambala while Bulemeezi will tussle out with Bugerere .
