Fans blast FUFA for cosmetic posting of player allowances

Soccer fans around the country have reacted to FUFA’s increase of financial benefits for the Uganda Cranes ahead of the opening two fixtures in the 2023 AFCON qualifying campaign.

FUFA released new figures on Saturday to cater for match day allowances and bonuses for each team member (Players and officials).

The new figures are as below

An increase of match day allowances from USD500 to USD750 per person on the team

Bonuses: Algeria vs Uganda on Saturday 4th June 2022

Away Draw: USD 1,000 (Before) to USD 3,000 (New) per person

Away win: USD 2,500 (Before) to USD 5,000 (New) per person

Bonuses: Uganda vs Niger Wednesday 8th June 2022

Home win: USD 2,000 (before) to USD 3,000 (New) per person

Fans reactions on social media have however been bitter towards the Federation led by Budiope East Member of Parliament Magogo Hashim Magogo. Though some have appreciated FUFA

Webola Stephen said,

“But FUFA have been making these promises not fulfilling them we remember what happened in AFCON previously players demonstrating for their money please lets believe this time it won’t happen again.”

Kaye Ismael also stated,

“But this time please keep your promise, don’t repeat what you people did to the team which was in Egypt I was the reason why some of the players are no longer on the national team today.”

“FUFA is good at writing but no action will be taken to clear this allowances.”

“First pay U-20 boys their 2020 runners up bonuses of more than 4000 US dollars.”

The Cranes will play Algeria in Algiers tonight before hosting Niger in second game at Kitende on Wednesday next week.
