Vacate wetlands unless you are an investor, Ugandans told by finance minister Matia Kasaija

Ugandans have been told to vacate wetlands and forest reserves but on the other hand investors can continue occupying the wetlands according to finance Minister Matia Kasaija.

“If those [investors] were misled, they will be tolerated because they were not told from the word go, but those [locals] who went there [wetlands] having been warned are the ones we are targeting,”

The minister made the remarks while addressing guests at the opening of the international university of East Africa as the host of the East African food Security symposium and expo.

It should be recalled that at the beginning of this year, President Museveni instructed all encroachers to vacate wetlands.

What Mr Kasaija did not clarify is whether the investors in question have to be foreign only, that said this is another clear example of how interesting a Country Uganda is.

And here we were thinking that ignorance of the law can not be an excuse, but well what do we really know?!
