The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) elections hold the record for most postponed elections in the country after being called off a record four times!! (Ok we may have to verify this but i mean, 4 times)

The last time the elections had to take place they were halted by the Minister of Gender, labour and social development together with the Uganda National Cultural Forum, the two entities responsible for UMA activities.

Asked about the latest on the UMA elections that her ministry put on hold, Minister of state for Gender and culture Peace Mutuuzo said that the road map will soon be released when they are ready to have an all inclusive election for the artists.

“The road map will be out soon, let’s first make proper arrangements. We didn’t have money to transport upcountry artists to come and participate.”

“We don’t want only Kampala based artists to take part in the elections, we want all of them to participate . There are many performers and we are currently registering them, including upcoming artists.”

So we request everyone to be patient, we shall soon communicate the dates when campaigns will start and it will be transparent for all to see and follow.

In the meantime, the incumbent UMA president Cindy Sanyu was reinstated as acting president until the ministry gives a green light for the elections to go on.
