Busiro needed a late winner from Masuudi Kafumbe to claim their first ever Masaza Cup title in the final that was played at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday.

Busiro cruised 2-1 past Buddu to smile to their first ever Masaza Cup crown.

Before Kafumbe netted deep in stoppage time, Isaac Ofoyrwoth had given Busiro the lead in the first half.

Buddu restored parity through Denis Kalanzi powerful header at the stroke of halftime.

Following the defeat, Buddu fans claimed that they could have retained the title if His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi had graced the first.

In his absence, Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga presided over the final at Wankulukuku.

This was only the second time since the inception of the prestigious Masaza Cup tournament in 2004 that the Kabaka didn’t make it to the final. The first time he missed the final was during the 2020 edition.
