Pentecostal pastor passes on while performing miracles

Police in Nakasongola district are investigating the sudden death of a Pentecostal pastor who died while performing miracles in Wanjuki village, Lwabyata subcounty, Nakasongola.

This happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and the deceased has been identified as Pastor Daniel Naheirwe, 40, of Rwandese nationality.

According to preliminary police information, on Tuesday, October 24, Pastor Daniel went to the home of a woman called Jesca Kyohairwe in Wanjuki Village to pray for her and remove witchcraft.

“He prayed and performed his miracles by removing the alleged witchcraft locally known as “Mayembe”. Later he got fire and burnt the herbs and the alleged witchcraft but unfortunately in the due course of burning, he collapsed and died on spot,” police said

Sam Twineamazima, the regional police spokesperson said that the deceased pastor went to Nakasongola claiming that he had miraculous powers that remove evil spirits from people’s homes and he has been doing it for many years.

He said that locals entrusted him to pray for them but later died while allegedly performing miracles.

When he died, locals alerted police who responded immediately and a case of sudden death was registered and the scene of crime was visited and documented.

The body was conveyed to Nakasongola health centre IV  for postmortem examination as police is tracing for his relatives.
